Maternity Pictures

We went and had our maternity pictures taken by Lacie Reed, she is just getting started with photography but I think her work is amazing.  We're going to have our newborn pictures taken by her as well after the little guy gets here.  We went over to her house and took some belly shots, then did a few outside in her backyard and finished up going to the Mukilteo Lighthouse.  It was a very full and exhausting day for me but from what I've seen with the preview pictures I think it was most certainly worth it!  I should get the disc with all the pictures sometime soon, I can't wait (and I'm bound to post a few of my favorites after that!)

These are the preview pictures she sent:

Work Shower

I decided with 55 some people invited to the shower at our house that I just wasn't going to invite the gals from work too.  The house was crazy packed with everyone that did come and it really was a little overwhelming for me, so I'm glad I decided on that. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but my guess is between Brooke and Julie they decided to throw me a little shower at work after the day was done.

We didn't play any games or do any of that stuff.  But we did have confetti cupcakes and punch.  Julie makes the best punch, I'll have to make sure to get the recipe sometime from her (she made the cupcakes too).  They had fun confetti all over the table with little stars that say It's a Boy and tigers and monkeys, I have a few of them to go in the baby book.  I didn't take any pictures, I brought the camera in there but then just didn't feel like photo taking, I wish I had, sometimes I kick myself later when I don't have the pictures.

Everyone gave me presents, more clothes, why does everyone get people clothes?  Don't get me wrong I love the clothes too, but there is just so much more stuff we need.  Other then clothes; Julie gave me a very nice book.  Diana gave me a "lovie" blanket that is a bear.  Brooke gave me some bath stuff.  Gayle gave me teething rings. Karen gave me another lovie type blanket with a dog.

I had a great time, it was much more laid back and thankfully everyone carried the stuff out to my car for me so I didn't have too.   I wasn't quite sure how I would manage that one at all.  I will miss the gals at work, I know they can drive me crazy at times but they really do have big hearts.

Just two more weeks and I will be taking an extended amount of time off from the working world and go into the taking care of a baby world.  I think taking care of a baby is more work then the work I do, but it has got to be more fulfilling.  I have had a couple members get pretty sad on me when I said I wasn't coming back, that will be hard too.  It's weird the way people come in and out of our lives, wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to keep them all?  Or at least the ones we want to keep.

Baby Shower

My wonderful sisters and sister in law gave me a fabulous baby shower with something like 30 people at it.  Richard did an amazing job of cleaning up our house and making it presentable for all those people.  I know it was lots of work getting the house picked up for it but I do think it was much easier then being somewhere else and then having to pack all that stuff up and get home.

We got lots of fun stuff and a few useful things, we'll need to do a little shopping sometime soon for sure to get some more essentials.  It's amazing how much clothing people buy, WOW, just wow.  I know the clothes are fun and cute, but I'll have to remember not to do that when I'm shopping for other peoples showers in the future (though if I remember right I normally don't go all clothing crazy).  We still need to go through everything and see what all we really have.  The opening of presents part of the shower was kinda crazy, I just felt like I was opening and then having the stuff pulled away and another something opened.  It'll be fun to go through it all again and "reopen" it with Richard to see what we really have.

To start the shower off we had snacks and punch and things of the sort.  Pam made me an awesome diaper wreath and cake (not edible, though one of the dogs did attempt to destroy one of the extra diapers all rolled up that she gave us).  Dani made cupcakes that had cute little babies in blankets on them as well as a bunch with pacifiers and raspberries or strawberries.  Yummy!  She also made her normal turkey rolls.  Mom brought veggie trays and Barbara made some really neat looking fruit trays (which came with an awesome frog mug for us to keep).  Sara brought pita chips, triscuits, dip and humus if I recall correctly.  I didn't actually see the food table much by the time everything was on there.

Next we played games, Pam was in charge of them as she often is.  We did word scramble (which I won), drawing babies on plates on your head, trying to decide how big around my belly was (everyone was over), and name the baby version of the animal.  Did you know a baby monkey is also called an infant?  Who knew?

After that we opened presents for what felt like forever, people slowly left and I just kept opening and opening.  By this point I was hot, tired and not feeling all that fabulous.

All that said, I had a great time, I can't thank my sisters enough for putting together such a special day for me and our little one to come.

The cute babies, I couldn't bring myself to eat one, just felt too weird.

My aunt Maryam embroidered all of these bibs for us, very awesome.

I have a bit of a hard time bending over to do anything, what can I say?

Really nifty books from Katie.

King of the Rink!  I hope he likes hockey like his parents do!

How do you make it stop?

Sara made Chad get practical things, THANK YOU!  She also made us a really neat piggy bank but the picture didn't turn out all that great.

Another hockey shirt!  Go Pam.  And yes she wrapped my present in a Winter Hook box.

This cute little dog barks, I love it!
It's a Lion and a... oh shoot what is that other animal?  Oh yeah giraffe.

Regina couldn't make it from Florida, but the bath robe is adorable!

Barbara wrapped the high chair with various ways to say baby in other languages, very awesome.

Oh, why is getting up so darn hard?

And baby decides to push in my ribs, he loves doing that.
I agree with Cassandra, he's kinda creepy, and where are his hands?

One of the two winning plates (the other one is above)

And we have confetti EVERYWHERE... It sticks to everything... and I find it everywhere I go.  It was kind of amusing to me when I got up from my PT adjustment and there was a little star on the table.

Grandfathers 98th Birthday Party

Let me just start by saying Grandfather has to be one of the most amazing men I know.  I hope to be half as inquisitive as him when I'm half his age, let alone the thinker he is at 98.  I never had a grandpa growing up but I've had Richard's Grandfather for quite awhile now and think of him as my own.  He never ceases to amaze me.

The 98th birthday party was at the Palmason's.  It was nice to get together and visit with the extended Davis family, we don't see them nearly often enough.  Lots of good food and conversation.  I didn't take any pictures during the gathering as I was pretty much stuck to the couple chairs I sat in, but I did take a few of the ones of us that Richard's dad took to put on the blog.

Tea with Mom

I bought a deal off of AmazonLocal for Attic Secrets Cafe and Tea in Marysville way back in the beginning of July before I realized I was pregnant and certainly before I realized I would be having such a hard time getting around.  The plan was to take a nice summer day off and spend it with my mom, have tea and do some shopping or something.  Plans didn't end up going quite as I had intended but sometimes that just happens, and sometimes I think a nice winter day off is much more needed then the summer ones.  I made our reservation for pretty much the last day I could before it expired, it snowed and snowed and snowed that day so thankfully they let me reschedule for another day.

I went and picked up mom and drove out to Marysville, she didn't know where we were going so it was kinda fun surprising her.  We had tea, scones, tea sandwiches and a tasty brownie as part of the deal, it was certainly enough for us that we didn't need to get anything else.  We even got to bring home a scone and a tea bag for later (I shared the scone I bought home with Richard, he more then deserves it right now with all the taking care of me he has been doing).

Mom and I had a fun time and enjoyed a nice quiet lunch together (kinda bummed I didn't have a picture taken, I've been a bit forgetful on that recently).  I look forward to more fun outings with Mom and the little guy after he gets here.

24 Week Ultrasound

We weren't able to get all the measurements they like to get at the 20 week appointment so we got to have another one!  I wouldn't be against having one every week if I could get away with it.
