A Davis Family Wedding

Today was Sandy and Jason's wedding.  The wedding was beautiful, the yard was amazingly well done, and the sun was shining something crazy!  The ceremony was incredibly warm out in the sun, as soon as it was done everyone went to the shade and visited.  I don't really know the Davis family all that well, we really do need to be better about getting together and doing things with them. 

I didn't take many photos at the wedding, I'm not sure why but some days I just feel less camera happy.  But I did take a picture of Richard with Grandfather, they are two of the most amazing men I'll ever know, they never ceases to amaze me. I never had a grandpa growing up so Richard's grandpas became the only ones I've ever had, Grandfather really is the such an amazing man.  I know it's not possible but I really wish I could have grown up with a grandpa, there is just something about them that seems almost magical to a kid.  I had a great time at the wedding catching up with everyone, hopefully we will be able to keep up with everyone on a slightly more regular basis.

Camping in Mt Vernon with the Family

Every year the whole family tries to get together for a camping trip, rarely do we actually get the entire crew together but this year we did!

Mom, Dad, Dani and Cassandra headed up on Thursday and picked out the sites so we were together and had enough space for everyone.  I hadn't been feeling well (sinus infection, coughing, lots of not fun) so it wasn't until Friday that I decided I would be able to go for sure.  It ended up that the weather was so nice that I would have had to have my windows open at night to cool the house off so it wasn't much different then being in the house, so why not go spend the weekend relaxing at a campsite?

On Friday we pretty much just set up camp, had burritos for dinner and chilled for a little while around the fire.  Saturday everyone other than Richard and I headed out to Friday Harbor to tour the island and they saw all kinds of neat things.  Part of me really wishes I had gone, but the other part knows I couldn't have walked around that much.  With all my congestion breathing was still really difficult, being sick is no fun.  Richard and I hung out at camp, read, went for a short walk on the trails around camp, went swimming and got dinner started so it was ready when everyone got back.  Gotta love speghetti!

Sunday brought more beautiful weather, a lazy morning, lots of family pictures and packing up so we could all head home.  Oh, and did I mention there were LOTS of flies and mosquitos.  Even with all the bugs it was a wonderful weekend, nice and relaxing. 

Happy 4th of July!

We didn't have as big or as exciting of a gathering this year as I had hoped, but we did have ribs and they were tasty!  And we had been planning on having more people so we had quite a bit of them too.  This year it was just my parents and Dani that were able to make it (Suzannah came over as a surprise visit with her three little boys as well).  We ate good food, visited, played some pool and watched the neighborhood fireworks.  No one had any to light off this year, but the neighborhood did not disappoint.  I had quite the sinus infection and was having a horrible time breathing and coughing so I wasn't able to go outside much to enjoy the fireworks.  Next year I hope to enjoy them a bit more.  Richard went out and took a few pictures with the new camera, I liked how they turned out, so here you go.

Geowoodstock VIII

Geowoodstock is a huge gathering of geocachers that is held each year.  Pamela and Jeff have gone to a few of them over the last few years in Texas and a few other states.  This year it was in Carnation, so I just had to go.  I haven't been feeling well, just getting over a sinus infection and my head still felt a bit like exploding.  But I went anyways because well, who knows if Geowoodstock will ever be back in Washington, and I'm not traveling around the country to gather with a bunch of geocachers I've never met.  Honestly I'm just not that into it.  I love geocaching, I love seeing new places (especially new hikes or traveling to places I've never been to), but I'm just not that into meeting a bunch of people that run out trying to get the highest numbers possible or whatever.  I've found that I don't really enjoy caching for numbers, I'm more of a quality kind of person when it comes to caching.  And when we go on vacations sometimes I plan to many and I get tired of it.  When it gets to feeling like a chore, I just don't do them anymore.  All that being said, I had a great time at Geowoodstock VIII. 

We went and had lunch, did scavenger hunt, shopped at the booths (where I got a gorgeous red butterfly geocoin), and smiled for the camera.  Dallas and Tony went as well and I really enjoyed spending some time with Dallas, it's crazy how fast those kids are growing up.
